Binder Size Chart: How to Find Your Binder Size
Measure once, bind comfortably.
All you need is a soft tape measure and a couple of minutes. Measure, match your number to the chart for your style, and if you're between sizes, size up. Got it wrong anyway? Every binder gets a free size exchange within 30 days.
Stand relaxed and breathe normally. Don't hold your breath or puff up.
- Chest: wrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest, usually across your nipples. Keep it level with the floor and snug, but not pulled tight. Write it down in inches.
- Underbust: wrap the tape just below your chest, at the top of your ribcage, snug but comfortable. This helps confirm your size for long binders.
Between sizes? Always size up. A binder that fits still compresses well, and you can wear it all day. One that's too small hurts, makes breathing harder, and usually ends up in a drawer.
For the cotton short tank, short racerback, long tank, and long racerback. Cotton binders are medium compression with a stretchy three-layer panel and no stiff inner layer, so they tend to fit true to your measurement.
| Size | Chest |
|---|---|
| S | 32"–34" |
| M | 34"–36" |
| L | 38"–40" |
| XL | 40"–42" |
| 2XL | 42"–44" |
| 3XL | 44"–46" |
| 4XL | 48"–50"+ |
Max compression binders have a stiff inner layer that doesn't stretch like cotton, so they run smaller. If you're at the top of a size range, go up.

Charts can vary a little by style, so check the size guide on the product page before you order.
| Style | Compression | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Cotton short or long, tank or racerback | Medium, no stiff inner layer | All-day wear, warm weather, sensitive skin, first binders |
| Max compression short or long, tank or racerback | Our firmest, with a stiff inner layer | The flattest look on lower-activity days |
| Sports Bro | Light to medium, quick-dry | Workouts, sports, swimming |
- Cotton: a 92–95% cotton blend that's soft on your skin and breathes. It's more forgiving than max compression and an easy first binder.
- Max compression: the flattest chest of anything we carry. Not for workouts or sleep.
- Sports Bro: moisture-wicking, quick-dry, four-way stretch, with a double-layer front panel and flat seams. It works as a swim top. It's built for activity, so it won't flatten like max compression.
Shop all binders.
- Size up when in doubt. Going too small is the most common mistake, and it means pain, harder breathing, and red marks.
- Your binder size isn't your shirt size. It's based only on your chest measurement, and a medium in one brand isn't a medium in another.
- New binders feel a little firm. Most loosen a bit after a few wears and washes. That's normal, so give it a few wears before you decide.
- Styles fit differently. A racerback and a tank can feel different in the same size, especially max vs. cotton.
- Rotate two or more if you bind every day. Each one lasts longer and the elastic gets time to recover.
These rules are how you keep binding for years instead of a few months.
- Max compression binders: 8 hours a day at most. Cotton binders and the Sports Bro can be worn all day.
- Always take it off before you sleep.
- Take rest days when you can.
- Never double-bind or use tape over a binder.
- Take it off right away if you feel pain or shortness of breath.
- Check your skin for irritation after you take it off.

TGS binding tape comes in 3", 4", 5", 6", and 8" widths, in a range of skin tones plus true black.
- 3": low profile, good under fitted tops and for smaller chests.
- 4": our all-purpose width, for most chest sizes.
- 5": more coverage per strip.
- 6": more coverage again, for larger chests.
- 8": the most coverage per strip.
When tape makes sense:
- Swimming and water sports, where a regular binder can't go.
- Formal wear and fitted tops, since there are no seams to show.
- Active days at the gym, under the Sports Bro.
- Rest days from your binder, as a lighter option.
