CLEANING & CARE

Gear Care

Good gear is not cheap. Make it last.

Packers, STPs, and toys do not wear out from use. They wear out from getting put away wet, stored in a drawer touching three other things, and cleaned with whatever was under the sink. Five minutes of care is the difference between replacing a packer every year and keeping the same one for five.

Our cleaners and powders will prolong the life of the gear you already paid for.

Warm water and a dedicated cleaner. Packer & Toy Cleaner with Aloe Vera is gentle enough for daily use and rinses clean without leaving a film. Cleaning Spray is the fast option for a quick pass between full washes.

The same routine covers packers, STPs, and toys. Plenty of our STPs are packers too, and they are the same silicone, so there is nothing separate to learn. STPs need one extra step: flush the channel with warm water until it runs clear, before anything else.

Skip dish soap, alcohol, and anything with a fragrance meant for countertops. Those strip and dry the surface, and once it dries out it starts to feel tacky and pick up lint.

Air dry completely before it goes anywhere. Trapped moisture is what makes gear smell, and no amount of powder fixes something that was put away damp.

Silicone is non-porous and forgiving. It holds up to daily cleaning and outlasts almost anything else in the drawer.

TPR is softer and more lifelike, but it is porous, so it needs cleaning more often and it turns tacky as it ages. Regular powdering with Packer Renewing Powder slows that down considerably.

Full routines for both, plus STPs, are in our packer care guide.

Store pieces separately, not touching. Different silicone formulations can react against each other over time and leave permanent marks where they sat together. A cotton bag or its original box is enough.

Keep it out of sunlight and away from heat. A windowsill or a hot car will soften and warp silicone faster than years of use will.

Finish every storage routine with Packer Renewing Powder. Anything going away for more than a few days gets powdered first, every time, whether it is a packer, an STP, or a toy, and whether it is silicone or TPR. A light dusting pulls residual moisture, kills the tacky feel, and keeps the surface from grabbing lint and hair in the drawer. This is the step people skip and then wonder why their packer feels different six months in.

Every powder we carry is 100% organic cornstarch and completely talc free.

Can I use regular baby powder?
We would not. Most baby powder is talc based, and enough concern has been raised about talc that plenty of people avoid it entirely. Ours is cornstarch, talc free, and formulated for silicone and TPR rather than for skin.

How often should I clean a packer or STP?
After every wear if it has been against skin all day, and always before it goes into storage. STPs get rinsed through after every use.

Can I boil or dishwasher it?
Check the individual product page first. Some silicone handles it and some does not, and anything with electronics or mixed materials never does.
