Bottom Growth on T: What It Is, Stages, Timeline & Pumping

Bottom growth on T: what it is, the stages, and pumping

Bottom growth is the growth of your clitoris once you start testosterone. Most people notice it within 3 to 6 months, it keeps going for 1 to 2 years, and typical growth is around 1 to 4 cm in length. It's considered permanent. Pumping and DHT cream are the two most common ways people try to add to it.

This guide shares community experience and published research, not personal advice. Talk to your healthcare provider before changing your hormones or starting a new routine.

What is bottom growth?

It's what happens to your clitoris on testosterone (T). The erectile tissue gets longer and thicker, and plenty of guys end up calling it a dick, a t-dick, or just their junk. For a lot of people, it's one of the most affirming changes of transition, and one of the least talked about. So here's the full rundown.

When does it start?

Most people notice changes in the first 3 to 6 months on T, and some feel extra sensitivity within the first few weeks. Clinical guides put the start of clitoral growth at 3 to 6 months and the expected maximum at 1 to 2 years. In real life, plenty of people keep seeing small changes into year three. Dose, delivery method, genetics, and age all play a part, so your timeline won't match anyone else's exactly.

A rough timeline

When What many people notice
First few weeks More sensitivity, some tenderness or itching, and a higher sex drive
1 to 6 months Visible growth starts, and erections are easier to notice
6 to 12 months Length and girth keep increasing, especially when aroused
1 to 2 years Growth slows, and most people reach most of their growth
2 years and beyond Small changes are still possible, then things settle

How big does it get?

Typical bottom growth is about 1 to 4 cm in length. One small study measured average growth of 2.5 to 4 cm in people who later had surgery, and an older study reported an average of 4.6 cm after one year. There's no wrong size. Your starting point, genetics, and dose all shape it, and comparing yourself to photos online rarely helps.

Is it permanent?

Yes. Clinical guides list clitoral growth as an irreversible effect of T, along with a deeper voice and facial hair. A few people who took T briefly or at a low dose say some growth faded after they stopped. There's no strong data on that yet, so treat it as anecdote, not a rule.

Can you increase it?

T does most of the work. Beyond that, people usually try one of these.

Pumping

A vacuum pump uses gentle suction to bring blood flow into the tissue. The evidence is mostly anecdotal, but many guys pump for more sensitivity, more size while pumped, and confidence. If you try it, go low and slow:

  • Start with low pressure and short sessions of around 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Use a little water-based lube around the base for a better seal.
  • Stop right away if you feel pain or numbness, or see blisters or dark bruising.
  • Never fall asleep with a pump on, and give your body rest days.

The HUNKY Pump Kit has a hand-trigger pump with a quick-release valve and three cylinders, so you can size up as you grow.

DHT cream

DHT (dihydrotestosterone) cream goes right on the area. It's made by compounding pharmacies, so you'll need a prescription. It's different from regular T gel, which has alcohol that can irritate genital skin. Ask your provider if it makes sense for you.

Planning for surgery

If you're thinking about metoidioplasty, your result depends on how much bottom growth you have, so many surgeons suggest waiting until growth levels off. Read our guide to FTM bottom surgery types for the full comparison.

Bottom growth, packing, and STPs

As things grow, your gear may fit differently. A soft packer can sit right over your growth, and some guys switch to a pack and play or a smaller packer. STP positioning can shift too, so recheck your alignment. Our guides on how to wear a packer and STP packer tips walk you through it.

FAQ

Some people feel tenderness, itching, or sensitivity early on, especially when clothes rub. In one study, that discomfort settled within about six months. If the pain is sharp or doesn't go away, check in with your provider.

Pumping without testosterone can make things look fuller for a while. Lasting growth is linked to androgens like testosterone or DHT.

There's no official schedule. Many people pump a few times a week, keep sessions short and low-pressure, and take rest days. Stop if anything hurts or looks bruised.
