How To Care For Your Packer
Not all packers are made of the same materials and as a result, require different types of care. Find your packer below for specialized cleaning and care instructions!
ELASTOMER PACKERS
(MR. LIMPY, PERFORMANCE PACKER, PACKER GEAR TPR)
CLEANING:
Mr. Limpy is made of SuperSkin which is known for its incredibly realistic feel and its ability to simulate the look and sensation of skin. It's latex free so those with allergies need not worry. This material is relatively easy to clean and only requires a wipe down with warm water and soap. Let your packer air dry if possible. If not, pat dry with a towel. For your comfort, we recommend putting a small amount of cornstarch in a ziplock bag. After your packer is dry, put your packer in the bag with cornstarch and shake it to coat your packer. This will keep your packer dryer for longer and will mitigate some of the stickiness of the SuperSkin. Unless you want your packer to turn into a pile of mush, do not boil or wash in the dishwasher.
CARE:
TPR packers are generally much cheaper and softer than silicone packers. The major drawback however, is longevity. With gentle handling and daily use, you can probably still only expect this packer to last you about 6 months. Packing with packing underwear or a packing pouch that does not have an o-ring will help protect your packer and delay inevitable rips and tears.
Allowing your packer to breathe and dry out between uses will also prevent it from developing bacteria. Elastomer packers are very porous and can harbor germs and bacteria when not washed regularly and allowed to air out.
SILICONE PACKERS
(#1 TRANS PACKER, ARCHER, PIERRE, PACKER GEAR SILICONE, MR. RIGHT)
These packers are made from 100% hypoallergenic body safe platinum cure silicone. To clean them you can wash it with hot soapy water, boil it or place it on the top rack of the dishwasher. Cornstarch can be applied to your packer afterward to reduce moisture buildup. Always avoid sharp edges or objections in use and storage. When packing, wear an undergarment to protect against rough seams and zippers.
